Me trying to get the script right while 3 people told me things in a studio with Archer Bruin (their pen name) and Arlo Abrams Photography.
It’s been a massive tornado of a summer (metaphorically), crashing into Fall back here in the Netherlands right into getting my edits back from the editor AND writing and recording a KickStarter video within the first 72 hours of being back.
Next week, we (Strope & Swagger Press and I) will launch our first kickstarter campaign for my debut book Cater to Me. This past year has been full of firsts, and this is one of many more: learning to “self”-publish, learning how different marketing your own books is from marketing someone else’s, click test covers and blurbs (this is like my UX job, but the results are always surprising), learning the best way to launch a kickstarter, and doing a ton of shameless self-promotion, which is not very comfortable…but… necessary?

I’m so grateful to all the support I have all around me—this book would still be all in my head without all y’all. And here’s one of my favorite pics to come out of our photo sessions with these photographers. It’s one visual embodiment of what (and who) it takes to do all this:
