Decades working in tech taught me that there really isn’t a time where you go and you are unplugged from work. But since leaving my FT tech job, I actually had the opportunity to say “I’m out!” and not feel guilty about it, or like I was letting my team down. I did take two hours of client calls on my first day from the hotel room, but aside from that, I was able to “unplug.”

And for me unplugging actually meant, reading, lounging, and writing—because that’s all I really want to be doing. I’ll likely be “working” until I die, but the goal, and all of the steps that my sweetie and I have taken to move our kids across the country (many times) and now across the Atlantic, are all microsteps in us getting to be our own bosses, maintain healthcare, and do the work that brings us joy and life. (P.S. I talked a bit about this on a podcast that aired last week)

So with that, I will just say that I was able to take a rest, spend time in bodies of water with my kids; and read, write, and discuss our respective romance novels with my partner. I am also and unfortunately, basically allergic to the sun, but I’ll spare you those photos.

Here’s a list of the (admittedly pretty tame) books I have been reading this week:

Almost done with this one (slow burn, bi-coastal) — I LOVE these characters. This is a co-written novel and the authors are very good at characters and dialog.

Aaaaaand, for when I need a break from the romance, I am reading this:
